Tasos Giapoutzis was born in Kavala, Greece in 1987. At the age of 23 he got a Bachelor of Civil Infrastructure Engineering in Thessaloniki. After completing his military duty, his passion for filmmaking brought him to UK to study Media Production (Moving Image) at the University of Bedfordshire.
Throughout the years, he has written, directed and produced several short films having participated at numerous international film festivals across the world including the Aesthetica Short Film Festival in York, the British Shorts Film Festival in Berlin, the International Film Festival of Iquique in Chile and the Short Film Corner - Festival de Cannes in 2013. In October 2013 he received the "New Director" Odysseus Award at the 6th London Greek Film Festival for his short documentary It’s a Good Life.
In 2013, he was selected for an international student film project in St. Petersburg while in June 2014 he is participating at the FEST-Training ground in Espinho, Portugal. So far, he has personally produced two promotional videos while over the years he has worked in numerous film or other video productions having all kinds of roles; that is, as an assistant director, camera operator, sound recordist, runner and production assistant.
These days, while developing his personal projects, he works as a freelancer in UK as well as internationally.
